The folks at Dallas Theological Seminary have invited Alan Roxburgh and me to come and me to come and lead a missional church conference (along with Bob Roberts and Eric Swanson). For more info, click the nifty graphic they made just for the blog... thanks, DTS.
They are looking for good examples of missional churches to highlight at the conference. If you have suggestions, particularly near the school, please leave their name, location, and any other helpful information in comment section or email us at research@lifeway.com.
Now, for confession:
When I preached at D.T.S. chapel last fall, I joked about the Left Behind series, so I am just glad they are having me back.

This is so weird! I am listening to your address at the SEBTS Convergence Conference and am just seconds past your riffing on Left Behind (and ribbing Dr. Akin about pretrib). I opened up Firefox, clicked over to your blog, and find this post. Divine serendipity? :-)
"Say it with me: Historic premillennialism, historic premillennialism . . ."
I'm just glad we can joke about these things in Baptist circles these days.

I think I must be obsessed with eschatology lately. I just had a guy ask me a bunch of questions about the subject today. Sigh.

Ed,
While it is by no means close to the school, one of the single most missional churches I have ever encountered is a small Baptist church in our inner city neighbourhood, New Life Ministries. It is hard to go into details here, but suffice to say that when it's founding pastor was diagnosed with cancer and died last year, it made national news. Here he was, a pastor of a small congregation, and he was named to the Order of Canada (our highest civilian honour). And it is not just this pastor, Harry Lehotsky, who was missional. They whole church is an example. Let me know if you want more information.
Peace,
Jamie
