The Canadian Church Planting Congress

Monday October 15, 2007   ~   2 Comments

I just received an email from the organizers of the Canadian Church Planting Congress, called "Imagine" this year. The conference is almost sold out, but they have moved to a new location. Find out more here.

The speaker lineup promises to be exciting. But, perhaps most exciting is the large number of people the organizers tell me are coming from Quebec.

According to the Calvary Chapel French Outreach Initiative Quebec info page:

The Quebecois is the largest unreached people group in North America. In Montreal, the number of people who say they don't believe in anything is up 51% since 1991. Less than 1% of the French speaking population are Evangelicals. The evangelical population in 1905 was 30,000. By the year 2000, that number rose only slightly - to a mere 37,500. Today there is one Evangelical church for every 11,000 people. There are less Evangelical Christians in Quebec than in Cuba. To have a church for every 1500 people, over 4000 new churches would need to be planted.

It is surprising to many to discover the Quebecois are an unevangelized people and Quebec is the most unevangelized region in North America.

Ed,

I wanted to say thank you for the great conference at the Leavell Center last Thursday. You did a great job and I appreciate what you do for the churches.
