With Facebook Friends Like This...

Rankin friends.PNGIn April, I mentioned here on the blog that I was creating a Facebook page. Well, today, Russ Rankin (from LifeWay Communications) emailed me to tell me that I have 666 friends. This is not good and I am accepting some new requests to fix the problem. However, does it seem a bit suspicious that the guy who told me about the 666 is also the guy who appears under the number on my profile page.

Just sayin'...

hmm... that's no good. I shot you a friend invite to change the count.

By Joe Kennedy on July 5, 2008 4:03 PM

Then what's it mean that I'm the second on that row? I think it's a sign from God... but in a good way.

By Matt Evans on July 5, 2008 4:53 PM

Wow. I'm glad I didn't make the top three in that group. Ha!

This cracks me up. Congratulations Russ. And Ed ... it's a shame to be so popular so fast. But really, 666 friends ???????

Have an awesome weekend ... you'll get more friends soon ... I'm sure!

OK--you are right---666 can be scary---you need to find some new friends---or you could lose a few....

By Romans 11:33-36 on July 5, 2008 10:43 PM

Wow!!!! that's kind of scary. But I'm pretty sure that Facebook nor ED nor any of his friends are the beast, so May God Bless you and keep you in all your ways!

By M. Steve Heartsill on July 6, 2008 7:35 AM

And who said you didn't have friends?

By Ed StetzerAuthor Profile Page on July 6, 2008 12:58 PM

Joe, I still think you are in trouble being next to Russ.

By Joe Kennedy on July 7, 2008 9:16 PM

Ed, I used to be a saint until I spent time studying under Jack Allen at NOBTS. =)

By Russ R. on July 8, 2008 11:13 AM

Joe, contrary to Ed's warnings, you're in no danger. And regardless of the abuse Ed heaps upon me, his little ruse obviously worked, as now he is quickly approaching a more celestial 777 number of "friends."

By Alvin Reid on July 10, 2008 4:28 PM

Well Ed, I have 1849 friends. This is the only place in the world I am ahead of you. And you are my friend there. I expect after your announcement here you will quickly surpass me. But I will still have more fb friends under 25 I betcha. I am comfortable with the younger crowd I guess.
I am surprised at how many older friends I suddenly have, guys like you (ouch), danny akin, alan hirsch, steve sjogren, and bloggerdudes like marty duren. What is the world coming to--old guys like us moving in on college turf? smiles.
Whats next, a myspace? Mine is docreid7/ Join the movement. But I am not getting a xanga.
